Great granddaughter

June 21, 2013 by Douglas Nielsen (Register to contact)

Wanted to let any friends still on SI know that Gail and I are now the proud great-grandparents of a baby girl, Hannah, born to our oldest granddaughter back in February. They live nearby and we get to visit often.

On another note, I see that THS is still contributing good baseball players to the majors. In my day, two I knew, Bobby Thompson and Nick Solomon were both SI players. Nick played for THS and went up to the Jersey City Giants. He never made it to the majors, but Thompson did with historic results. As I remember, Thompson played for New Dorp and played against Solomon. THS always played on the old Aquehonga baseball field with all of its shortcomings. It's gone now.

I enjoy reading the news from THS.
